additional questions

What are the basic workplace / home office requirements?

You’ll work where you live, so you must have a private, quiet, distraction-free room with a door that can close to keep out ambient noise.

Are there expected work hours?

No.  While we don’t dictate your hours, your clients likely will.  Travel Agents work untraditional hours.  Clients will plan their travel likely during times when they are not at work, so weekends and after work hours would be likely.  When your clients are on their trips they may be contacting you at any time for support, advice, or emergency modification.  Your success will require that you respond to your clients need in a timely and expeditious fashion.

Is there a minimum number of hours that an Advisor is expected to work per week?

No.  You set the amount of time you want to dedicate to your success.  The more time you spend the better results you can expect.  That being said, while there are no required minimum hours of work, you are expected to:

  1. Absolutely required to be available to respond to your clients’ routine needs within four (4) hours during agency business hours (Monday – Friday / 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Saturday / 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM).  You can discuss with your Business Operations Manager if there are occasional special circumstances where you are not available, and;
  2. You are also expected to respond to client emergencies while they are traveling within one (1) hour.  Remember, your reputation and the reputation of the agency is based on the service we provide to our clients.  Clients in need give us an opportunity to shine.

Would I be reimbursed for Internet service?

No.  You are required to have or be willing to get a hardwired high-speed Internet connection from a reliable provider. This connection must be able to maintain a consistent speed of 10 Mbps for downloads and 3 Mbps for uploads, as well as less than 150 ms latency.

Would I have to purchase my own computer and phone?

Yes and No.  We provide you with directions on how to download a ‘soft phone’ to your personal cell phone (Apple or Android) that will give you access to both your agency extension and our corporate telephone network.  We do not cover the cost of personal cellular telephone equipment or monthly cellular service charges.  For Independent Advisors who reach certain sales volume, we provide a hardwired VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) desk telephone that will connect to our corporate telephone network.

We do not provide a personal computer; however, one is required to work as an Independent Advisor.  While our Agency Management System, Advisor Portal, and many booking engines are available to you on a variety of mobile platforms; you must have a Mac or IBM compatible desktop and / or a laptop.  Please contact your Business Operations Manager for specific technology requirement.
